Tea Party ATCs

20 Jun

Well, apparently I completely forgot to post the Tea Party ATCs from last month. I am definitely behind in my blog posts. 🙂

Here are the ATCs that were submitted. Skye did a great job with presentation, with an adorable matching envelope and tea bags.  Lynnita’s Little Teapot opens up, with the rest of the little teapot rhyme inside. Very cute. Alas, I only managed to get one ATC completed this month. 😦

Using random.org,  the winner is……Juli. Congrats! Juli always submits extra entries, so it is only fitting that she win!

Thanks to everyone for submitting. I know the participation has been waning the last few months, which is why we are taking the summer off from the monthly ATC challenges. Perhaps we will start again in the fall, or maybe we will think of something new and fun to do. So stay tuned.

In the meantime, I am getting caught up on my blog posts.

Architecture ATCs

9 May

Apparently Architecture was not a popular theme, as I only have mine and Lynnita’s ATCs. It was a more challenging topic, but sometimes those are good for us to stretch what we typically do. I certainly hope the next theme is more popular so we get a few more entries.

Here are the 4 Architecture ATCs, plus a bonus Fairies ATC from last month that arrived too late to be included in the challenge.

May ATC Challenge – Tea Party

4 May

Oops! I have been so busy this past month that I completely forgot to get the May 1st blog challenge post ready. But better late than never!

For May the ATC theme is Tea Party. Who doesn’t love a good tea party? This time of year seems perfect for tea parties. It is Mother’s Day and Spring is in the air and everyone is getting their outdoor patios ready and finding pretty spring dresses and sandals to wear. Yes – it is a Tea Party kind of month.  (The April ATCs will be shared in a few days – so if you didn’t get yours sent in yet, there is still a few days left to do so.)

a27ddab30beaef642d3942333dec13d4

Tea Parties are full of fun stuff. With Tea pots, tea cups and saucers, pretty table cloths and fancy napkins. Maybe some tiny sandwiches and little tea cakes and cookies and cupcakes. Of course you might need a pretty tea party dress and hat and shoes. There seems to be an attention to detail with tea parties that I am impressed with.

993bc3bd85feece948ce5a7ce54c1b2b

Tea Parties are reminders of by-gone days, when women regularly got together and had tea parties and it was an event and it was important (because women getting together is valuable).

d54e078bf5c1c46d2f8b04921089eed7

My sister Teresa often hosts Tea Parties for her friends. They have little tables and fancy food and pretty tea cups and lots of laughter and fun! I wish I had some photos of her tea parties to share with you, but I don’t. 😦

4fd332fb6fe25f09420264625fda553e

And what little girl doesn’t have a tea party, probably with a princess tiara and tutu, or maybe some fairy wings, on little tiny chairs at a little tiny table, drinking tea out of little tiny cups. I’m pretty sure every little girl has hosted a tiny tea party.

6fd394e2ae5611ab840a1c5d0f6410d8

Of course I’m reminded of Alice and the Mad Hatter tea party too. Which is more my style. A little bit out of control and crazy. And nobody knows what is going on. 🙂

The idea with doing the monthly ATC challenge is that you can interpret the theme any way you like and explore the various ways the theme can be used. It’s a great way to try out something new and play with new ideas. I find it very exciting to see how people choose to portray the theme.

I’d love to see what you create for this theme. Remember, you only need to send in one ATC (of course you can send in as many as you like), but you can’t win if you don’t enter.

Artist Trading Cards: A little bitty piece of art created by you. Here are the rules guidelines for the challenge.

  • your ATC needs to be 2.5″ x 3.5″
  • you can use any medium you like (paper, fabric, metal, clay, etc)
  • you can use any technique you like (a great way to try something new)
  • art work is on the front
  • your personal info is on the back (name, location, contact info, date, title)
  • all skill levels welcome
  • this is a WTA – winner take all – so one person will ‘win’ all of the ATCs submitted (if we get more than 20 entries, there will be 2 winners – if we get more than 30 entries, there will be 3 winners, and so on)
  • submit one ATC (you get one chance to win with each ATC submitted – if you submit more than one you get extra chances – but make them different since one person might win all of them)
  • you can’t win if you don’t enter 🙂
  • deadline is May 31st – you can drop it off if you are local or mail it to the address below

I’d like it if you could include your city, state and country on the back side of your ATC.  We have several Int’l participants as well as people from all over the USA, and I know they would love it if they knew where you were from. We don’t all know each other personally, so the info you provide is greatly appreciated. Another idea is to include your email or blog address as well. It’s not necessary, but nice for the winner to have in case they would like to contact you.

I look forward to seeing what you create for the Tea Party theme.  Turn your ATCs in by the end of the month to be included. Thanks to everyone who participates and sends in your ATCs each month. Feel free to invite your friends to join the fun. This is definitely the type of challenge that is better with more entries.

I’ll be posting the April winner in a few days.

For those of you wanting to plan ahead, the June theme is Summer Fun.

Sorry, the photos are not very good this month. I apologize but I hope you can still see them well enough to appreciate them.

And now to the winner of the ATCs. I use random.org to select the winner every month. Of course, if you send in more than one, you get more than one entry and that helps your odds of winning. And even though I participate every month – I am not eligible to win. And the winner is Linda Logan…….congrats and I will get your ATCs to you right away.

Here is a bonus digital ATC from a blog follower. 🙂

Thanks again everyone. For the April challenge – the theme is Architecture. I really hope you can join the fun. And invite your friends. The more the merrier. Plus with more ATCs, we have more winners.

April ATC Challenge – Architecture

1 Apr

We are ready for the April ATC challenge. For April the theme is Architecture. I have always loved looking at beautiful architecture and building planning and seeing the ways that creative people interpret architecture and how they use their designs in context with surroundings or with themes or maybe something completely out of this world.  (The photos of the March ATC theme of Fairy Tales will be posted soon.)

From the Heart ATCs

10 Mar

I was waiting for the mail to bring me one last ATC for the Feb From The Heart ATC challenge, so the post is a bit late this month.

All the entries were wonderful – as always. I kind of got a bit carried away making some ATCs because I was having such fun with the theme. How can you not love hearts?

Here are the Feb ATCs – in no particular order. Enjoy the show.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I also received one link to an ATC that wasn’t actually mailed in, from Elamaa Kotirinteella. I wanted to share it with you even though there isn’t an actual card to include in the WTA.  Just click on this link to go to her blog post.

And now on to the winners. We have 2 winners this month. I use random.org to select the winners. Everyone has a chance to win. If you send in more than one entry you get more than one chance to win. Of course, I am not eligible to win – that wouldn’t be right!

Congrats to……….Juli Heintz and Lynnita Knoch. Woo hoo! I will get your ATCs to you soon. Thanks so much for participating. I hope everyone sends in an ATC for the March theme of Fairy Tales. Everyone is welcome to participate.

March ATC Challenge – Fairy Tales

1 Mar

March really comes fast, when Feb is so short. But we are ready for the March ATC challenge. For March the theme is Fairy Tales. There are so many different Fairy Tales to choose from, so I know you will all send in multiple ATCs. 🙂  (The February ATC photos will be shared in a few days.)

1338-Fairy-Tales-800x537

Most of us have grown up with fairy tales. They are stories of magic and wonder and filled with fairies and elves and dwarves and magicians and giants and a host of other wonderful creatures. Castles and dragons are quite common. They are stories of good vs. evil and often pit the little guy against the big guy. The use of children and animals is quite common and expected. Disney animation has used the fairy tale genre over and over again.

855238_1318607051730_full

We love rooting for the underdog or seeing the unexpected take place. We are fascinated by trolls and ogres and talking animals and magical plants and mystical beings. Stardust and magic beans and secret potions are all equally enticing to our imagination.

fairy3

Fairy Tales are common in nearly all cultures and most stories can be traced back many centuries, from when stories were only an oral tradition, long before the written word. These stories were mostly intended for adults, but we have transitioned to them being for children now. Yet, the lessons or morals from the stories can be applied to both adults and children.

So what will you choose to do for your Fairy Tale ATCs? Something modern or much older? Something for adults or for kids? Something from Grimm or from Disney or from somewhere else? I can’t wait to see how you interpret this theme.

Circles ATCs

7 Feb

I almost forgot to post the Circles ATCs for the January blog challenge. 🙂

It is always fun to see the ATCs arrive at the shop and see how everyone interprets the theme and what they decide to create using the theme. And of course, they are always so much better in person than in the photos. It just makes me happy to see them.

Enjoy the show. They are all so fun and creative and inspiring. I ended up with one just a little bit small as I cut it wrong, but hopefully nobody cares. There is one postcard in the mix as Patty wasn’t sure about the ATC size, so it is a bonus bit of art. (The ATC size is 2.5″ x 3.5″)

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Now on to the winners. Who will get these wonderful creations this month? You know you can’t win if you don’t enter!  I use random.org to select the winners so there is no favoritism or choosing the one I like the best or anything like that. You do get extra chances to win if you send in more than one ATC. And I am not eligible to win even though I always participate. So the winners are…….Lynnita Knoch and Linda Logan.  Woo Hoo!!!!!

Congrats and I will get you your winning ATCs. Thanks so much to everyone who participates each month.

The February theme is “From the Heart” and I look forward to seeing what you create for this theme. Tell your friends too. The more the merrier! Everyone is welcome to participate.

February ATC Challenge – From the Heart

1 Feb

We are ready for the February ATC challenge. For February the theme is FROM THE HEART. Yes I know, February and Valentines Day and Hearts are all very typical. But sometimes it is OK to do what everyone else is doing. And I love hearts!  (The January ATC challenge photos will be shared in a few days.)

heart-quotes-roses-valentines-day-2013-greetings-wallpapers

From the Heart gives you room for more interpretation than just using hearts. Perhaps you want to do something about the things that make your heart sing. Or the love you have for someone. Or something that you are passionate about. From the Heart is all about love and joy and passion and purpose.

Always-Young-Love-Quote

Or maybe you want to use the literal heart interpretation. Blood pumping and life giving.

depression-cause-heart-attack-1

Or maybe you want to create something about your broken heart. We’ve all had our hearts broken at some point and I know from personal experience that creating art about your broken heart can be incredibly healing.
