Book Club – The Artist’s Way – Chapter 12

31 Aug

Well, we’ve reached the last chapter in The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. Chapter 12 – Recovering a Sense of Faith. It seems kind of sad to be finished with the book now. Of course, it is the kind of book that gets read over and over again. After all, this is my 3rd time through the book, and each and every time I’ve been at a different place in my life and in my creativity journey. I’ve taken something new and different from each time through the book. How many times have you read the book?

Chapter 12 talks about trust and faith and relinquishing control. And how we know what to do and we know what we know, but sometimes we get in our own way. Or we allow others to get in our way.  Because we don’t trust ourselves or our own instincts. It is too easy to be distracted or to listen to those niggling doubts or voices in your head or even worse – that loved one that voices doubts.  Yikes!  So…..set your goals and set your boundaries…..watch out for those distractions…..beware the shiny object syndrome…..quiet the voices in your head…..believe in yourself….and create!!!!!

You have gone through this journey. You have read the chapters, done your morning pages and artist dates, completed the tasks and exercises, and made it through to the end. I hope this creativity journey has helped you to define what being an artist means to you and what direction your creative life will go.  Remember that you need to play and laugh, enjoy your life, have fun and create, and follow your dreams.

We will be taking a short break from book club. But we will be back with a new book and a new schedule. Any suggestions for books?
