Fun Week of Classes

6 Jun

I was in Pinedale WY this past week doing some classes. Pinedale is about an hour south of Jackson Hole, so you know it is beautiful, but even though I showed up on Memorial Day Weekend (usually the start of summer) we had SNOW!!!!!!

Never mind the weather, we had a fabulous time. My sister lives there and has a gorgeous home, and was quite generous in letting me set up shop in her house. We didn’t have very large classes, but they were very fun.

The first day we did some Visual Journaling work. We learned about different background techniques and we talked about the different kinds of paper that journals have and what you can use on them. We played with different mediums and used paint and crayons and glue and all sorts of things. We also worked on some journaling prompts and made a number of pages.

On Tuesday we had a class to learn about fabric ATCs and fabric Postcards. We worked on how to put them together and how to create your ideas. We also talked about trading them and forming a group to meet regularly and trade. Everyone made some very cute cards.

Everyone had such different ideas. The creative juices were certainly flowing today!

The next day we did Gelatin Printing on fabric and paper. It ended up being only my sister and I for this one as the timing just didn’t work out for most people. But we went ahead and did it anyway with just the two of us and made some very fun fabric and some cool paper pieces too.

You know we had lots of fun and now we have all this very personal fabric to play with. I wonder what we will use it for?

The next day we learned about z e n t a n g l eâ. We talked about technique and papers and pens and what else you can do with them. And how relaxing and calming they are.  And how beautiful they can be.

And the last day we did a graffiti journal. Very fun class. Very freeing. It’s a good project to help get outside of your comfort zone and let go of your preconceived notions of what you are going to do. We played with paint and paper and stamps and glue and tape and markers and all sorts of fun stuff.

Fun pages!

We ended up with lots of cool pages and we also made a few postcards to be mailed.

As you can tell, we had fun and there was lots of creative energy in the air. Everyone had a great time and we all felt so good about all our creativity and the projects that we completed. And everyone was so inspiring and so much fun! I can’t wait to go back again in the fall.

Agree with Tif. You are a great teacher! You know that even when I was thinking…”What?!” I knew you’d bring it all together and it was an amazing class. 😉
